The PRIOR ART page

Following on from the success of the "World's smallest socialist radio station". The next obvious sphere of human endeavor to miniaturise was Art [with a capital A]. Motivation for this project came from the need to produce a fast Christmas cake decoration quickly. It's Christmas think flashing lights, it's got to be fast so think minimalist. Following the great example that Martin Creed stole from the French avant garde. I have miniaturised his Turner prize winning "Work # 227: The lights going on and off" and produced a cake decoration, every bit as exciting. [To the critics of Martin Creed, ask yourself how easy would you find it to arrange for an empty room in an art gallery to have its lights, both fluorescent and incandescent, switch on and off every four seconds. Remember not only do you have to meet BS electrical safety regulations - you have to deal with the people who own the gallery]. I used a 6V dual cell lithium camera battery, a National Semiconductor LM555N, two surface mount resistors, two 6V filament lamps and a 22uF capacitor. [For extra credit, you can figure out how to wire up a 555 so as to give equal times to on or off, or you could just look at the datasheet]

For all you impatient people here's the results - I think mine has a more scalene Fluxorian charm, but as with all art you get to be the judge. [Although one north London resident clearly thinks it's art]
